We chose some activities that day that we felt would fit a Sunday. First we went to Arlington Cemetary. We had beautiful weather again and the grounds there are stunning in the Fall weather.
One of the first beautiful things I saw there:

We spent awhile looking around the special memorial in honor of women in the military. Here is Peter on the stairs:

Also, I found my new personal photographer there. He actually got a decent picture of me!

The tomb of the unknown soldier was a good experience, the kids were reverent during this time. It's very interesting to watch people's reactions to the dedicated soldier who guards it:

Behind that is a beautiful auditorium:


We ended up only seeing about 1/3 of the cemetary. I would love to go back some day. We found out later in the week that the famous statue of the soldier's raising the flag is there and we missed it! It was a peaceful place to visit and it inspired a respect in us for our military that I am grateful for.
